A page on what Fabrik can do, similar to the current project

Maybe include a history of Fabrik, and how we got here

Fabrik is an extension for the Joomla Content Management System. It is a package consisting of a component, modules and plugins that allow a website designer to implement database-driven applications without in-depth knowledge of database systems design.

At its simplest, it allows the website designer to build custom forms and to present the data gathered as lists or other visualisations, such as charts and maps. But there is more to Fabrik, and it is possible to join tables, use the data in a table to populate controls on other forms, and much more.

Fabrik was originated in ?year? by Rob Clayburn, and quickly built a loyal following of developers and designers. As the software is Open Source, contributions to the project were encouraged and it grew more and more capable.

In ?year?, Rob decided that the project was too much for him to manage, and one of the larger commercial users of Fabrik, Media A Team, took over the stewardship of the project. Hugh, who had worked on Fabrik with Rob, continued to develop and support Fabrik under Media A Team.

When Joomla 4 was announced, it became clear that the effort required to migrate Fabrik to the new version was huge. Many of Media A Team's clients had moved away from Fabrik to other technologies, and so it was not financially viable for Media A Team to add resources to the project in order to migrate it to Joomla 4.

A number of the community of Fabrik users got together to "save" Fabrik, and three in particular set to work to bring the Fabrik core code into the Joomla 4 world. Without the outstanding efforts of these three people there would not be a Fabrik extension for Joomla 4.
